The Women in Road Safety Network (WiRSN) Scholarship aims to support and promote women in road safety through participation in the annual Australasian Road Safety Conference (ARSC). The Scholarship provides recipients with the opportunity to present their work, network with professionals across the road safety sector, and gain knowledge from a diverse range of disciplines. The Scholarship is supported by the MAIC/University of the Sunshine Coast Road Safety Research Collaboration.
How to apply?
All applicants are required to submit an extended abstract to the ARSC in response to the Conference call for papers and indicate their intention to apply for the WiRSN Scholarship as part of the abstract submission process. Submission and presentation of an abstract at the Conference is a requirement of the Scholarship.
All extended abstracts are subject to peer review alongside all other Conference submissions. Accepted extended abstracts will be published in the Conference Proceedings and may be afforded the opportunity to submit a full paper to the Journal of Road Safety.
Following completion of the peer review process, a list of applicants who indicated their intention to apply for the WiRSN Scholarship and whose abstracts have been accepted will be provided to the WiRSN Committee. These applicants will then be invited to complete the next stage of the application process, which will include responding to additional questions to assist the Scholarship Committee in its assessment and decision-making. The final application questions and process will be confirmed by the WiRSN Committee.
To be eligible, applicants must be current members of the Australasian College of Road Safety (ACRS) at the time of application. Information on how to become a member of ACRS is available at acrs.org.au/membership.
