The Prabhakharan family, together with the Australasian College of Road Safety (ACRS), is pleased to unveil the Dr. Prasannah Prabhakharan Early Career Scholarship (DPPS).
Established in honour of its benefactor, the late Dr. Prasannah Prabhakharan and supported by NRMA, the DPPS provides emerging road safety professionals in regional New South Wales with the opportunity to attend the annual Australasian Road Safety Conference (ARSC)*.
By enabling early-career practitioners to participate in this leading industry forum, the DPPS aims to strengthen regional capacity to reduce road trauma, foster professional development, and promote the exchange of knowledge, strategies, and best practice.
This year’s ARSC will take place 26–29 October in Sydney, and applications for the 2026 DPPS are now open.
How to apply?
Early career road safety professionals based in regional NSW are invited to apply for the DPPS.
Applications close on 30 April 2026, and the recipient will be announced on 21 May at the annual ACRS NSW PhD Invitational, honouring Dr Prasannah Prabhakharan.
ACRS NSW Chapter Chair Mr Mick Timms said, “The DPPS is the legacy of a giant of road safety who long recognised that reducing road trauma in regional areas was the key to Towards Zero.”
“We are grateful to the NRMA, an organisation with strong regional membership, for supporting the DPPS.”
Notes:
*The 2026 DPPS consists of paid delegate registration to the Australasian Road Safety Conference, 12-months complimentary membership of the Australasian College of Road Safety, and reimbursement of travel and accommodation and related expenses incurred by the recipient to a maximum of $1,250. Recipient is responsible for their travel and accommodation arrangements. Reimbursement is via bank transfer, post-conference.
The recipient will be an early career road safety professional from regional NSW. Early career is defined as someone who considers themselves in their early career, from students to those who already have several years of career experience. Road safety professional relates to research, industry, or government work, with a primary focus on road safety, injury reduction, or post-crash care undertaken in regional NSW. Regional NSW is defined as areas outside of the Sydney metropolitan areas.
