South Australian Chapter Scholarship

Applications for South Australian Chapter Scholarship is now open.

The South Australian Chapter of the Australasian College of Road Safety (ACRS) is offering a scholarship to attend this year’s conference. The scholarship will cover the cost of one full in-person registration to the conference. If required, return flights to/from Perth, up to four nights’ accommodation, and associated travel will also be included up to a combined value of $3,000. The scholarship will also include a complimentary 12-month personal membership to the ACRS.

The aim of this scholarship is to help individuals from the South Australian road safety sector who would otherwise be unable to attend the conference. Ideally, this scholarship will help the recipient to gather and apply new knowledge in their own workplaces and/or communities to improve road safety outcomes. The scholarship also gives the recipient an opportunity to collaborate with colleagues, to share knowledge, and form lasting connections and networks in the interests of road safety in South Australia.

Eligibility criteria

The successful recipient of the scholarship will:

  • Be an individual based in South Australia
  • Have a demonstrated and ongoing interest in road safety, through employment, research, study, or advocacy within your local community

Applications

The successful recipient of the scholarship will be required to:

  • Actively attend the conference in-person
  • Provide either a written report to the ACRS (SA chapter) within a month of the conference concluding or a presentation at a future SA Chapter seminar. This report/presentation should summarise the recipient’s key learnings of the conference and how they will apply them to contribute to future road safety improvements.

How do I apply?

Please send a one-page application (along with your CV) to admin@acrs.org.au with the email subject line ‘SA scholarship’. Your application should address the following questions

  1. Why are you applying for this scholarship?
  2. How will your attendance at the conference strengthen your current or future practice in South Australia’s road safety sector?
  3. Other than your written or oral report, how else will you share what you hope to learn at the conference with your peers and colleagues?

Please also attach any evidence to support your application.

When do applications close?

Applications close at midnight (11:59pm AWST) on Friday 16 May 2025. The successful applicant will be notified within 7 days of the closing date.

How will my application be assessed?

Applications that meet the eligibility criteria will be assessed by a panel comprising the SA Chapter Chair and three members of the committee.

All decisions are final, and once the scholarship recipient has been decided, the judging panel will not engage in any further correspondence regarding the outcome of applications.

All applicants will be advised of the outcome of their application within 14 days of the closing date.

Other information

Only one registration will be awarded to the successful applicant.

The successful applicant will be required to book their own accommodation, flights, and associated transport which will be reimbursed, upon presenting receipts, up to a maximum value of $3,000 (minus the cost of the conference registration).

No other or additional costs to attend the conference will be covered.

If you are already a member of the ACRS, then your membership will be extended for a further 12-months from the current date of expiry.
