Dulcie Tauri

Iwi affiliations – Te Rarawa, Ngā Puhi, Te Aupōuri, Ngāti Tūwharetoa Ko au te Kaiwhakahaere kaupapa whakahaumaru huarahi mō ngā iwi Māori Dulcie is a Project Manager within the Road Safety group at Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency. She is leading the work on improving road safety outcomes with Māori. Waka Kotahi is focused on how it can meet its Tiriti o Waitangi obligations through Te Ara ki te Ora (Road to Zero) and the safe system, how Māori in Aotearoa are affected and where Waka Kotahi can better support culturally relevant road safety initiatives lead and delivered by Māori. Throughout her career as a qualitative researcher and systems thinker Dulcie has had the privilege of working with a diverse range of people in communities across Aotearoa focusing on understanding how systems, services and products impact people’s lives. How these could be improved to be more accessible through people centric design. Dulcie brings an indigenous perspective to the challenges Māori face when it comes to road safety in Aotearoa and has worked with Māori in urban and remote rural environments on a range of central and local government initiatives.
