Applications for ARSC 2024 Rural and Regional Scholarship are closed.

Scholarship Sponsor

DITRDCA
The Rural and Regional Scholarship was funded by the Australian Government through the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts.

The Rural and Regional Scholarship aims to support individuals working in the road safety sector who live in rural and regional areas in Australia and New Zealand and who would otherwise be unable to attend the conference. Ideally, this scholarship will help the applicant gather and apply new knowledge in their own workplaces and/or communities to improve road safety outcomes. The scholarship provides the recipient with an opportunity to collaborate with colleagues, share knowledge, and form lasting connections and networks in the interests of road safety in their community.

Applications

Applications that meet the eligibility criteria will be assessed by a panel comprising the Chief Executive Officer of the Australasian College of Road Safety and two members of the organising committee of the Australasian Road Safety Conference.

Eligibility criteria

Applicants may apply each year. The successful recipient of the scholarship will:

  • Reside in a rural or remote community in Australia located 200 or more kilometres from the nearest capital city, or in New Zealand, 200 or more kilometres from the closest city that has an international airport.
  • Demonstrate a sustained interest in road safety, evidenced through employment, research, study, or advocacy within their local community.
  • Upon receiving the scholarship, the applicant must be ready to travel and attend the entire conference proceedings.
